Morning Meditation - Second Sundays Summer Series

10 am to 12 noon

June 8, July 13 & Aug 10

“[Through somatic meditation] we discover that the life that we need to live is actually being born, moment by moment, within the emptiness of the body.” - Reggie Ray, Touching Enlightenment

Led by Abigail Weinberg

Beneath the busyness, distraction, and concern, lies the open, awake space of our body. During these three morning meditation classes ,we will learn to connect into a vast and dynamic space below the narrow, limited reality presented by the thinking mind. Somatic meditation offers a practical, effective way to connect with our bodies as the gateway to our curious, creative nature. The practices support us in working with the full range of our experience with acceptance towards ourselves and others.

The two-hour practices will be a mix of guided meditation in the sitting and laying down posture. There will be an introductory talk to orient us to the view of the practice.  Participants are encouraged to attend all three practice sessions since the sessions will build on the previous class experience.

Practice will be offered in the gallery space of HotWood Arts, a studio space in the historic warehouses on the waterfront in RedHook, Brooklyn. Directions and a map to help locate Hot Wood are available here. The suggested donation for each practice session is a sliding scale of $10 to$20, which supports the space and purchase of practice materials.

Please email Abby to reserve a space. Feel welcome to join whether this is your first time in a meditation practice or if you are a long-time practitioner interested in amore embodied practice.

Meditation has been a primary focus for Abby since 2012 when her life began to fall apart. Since then, she has been practicing in the Vajrayana Lineage of Dharma Ocean. The view and practices of this lineage continue to support Abby in letting go of limited, claustrophobic hopes and dreams to open to the rich unfolding of experience. Abby has undergone training as a meditation instructor, maintains a regular practice, and undertakes solitary retreat for two to four weeks a year.
